At the dawn of Earth, Man rises out of water, gasping for air and fighting to survive. Once on solid ground, he is faced with a world of challenges. He is alone. His curiosity and basic desires guide him as he attempts to navigate the perils of the land. However, these instincts lead him towards danger when day becomes night and he reaches to the sky for answers.

Every culture and civilization has their own creation myth. PROTO is about the struggles that a first human would face in that position. Through his eyes, we see humanity at its most basic form, and watch as it evolves into something more. Is man, by nature, self aware? How much weight would a sense of purpose carry for someone that is only trying to survive? This film asks these questions in the lighthearted and honest observation of our protagonist.
PROTO was filmed in Montana, and finished in Portland, Oregon. It is a modern Pacific Northwest take on a tale that's as old as mankind. The short film is currently being submitted to festivals around the world. Feel free to get in touch to find out when and where you can view it.
